March 2023 Cruise Classes:
Living Longer, Living Better
Dr. Nitu Bajekal will discuss the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause and how to recognize when medical help is required. She will explain the role of a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet as well as exercise for managing symptoms of menopause — all with the support of evidence-based medicine. The benefits of a whole food, plant-based way of eating to improve mood, sleep, and energy levels will be discussed along with weight-loss benefits. Additionally, the role of hormone therapy, incorporated with lifestyle measures, will be addressed.
Dr. Bajekal will bust myths and answer questions, discussing the scientific evidence for the benefits of soy intake for various women’s health conditions, especially during perimenopause and menopause. She will also examine ways to reduce the risk of breast cancer and some gynecological cancers.
Living PCOS Free
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder worldwide, affecting at least one in ten women. It is the number one cause of infertility. Alarmingly, three in four of those with PCOS remain undiagnosed because of the complex nature of the condition.
Dr. Nitu Bajekal will break through misinformation, discussing symptoms of PCOS, from irregular periods to acne and anxiety. She will explain the condition in simple terms, focusing on the role of hormones, including estrogen and testosterone, in women’s health. Also, Dr. Bajekal will discuss how lifestyle and behavioral changes can help manage insulin resistance, one of the key drivers of this condition, and improve fertility chances, reduce pregnancy-related complications, and longer-term problems including womb cancer and type II diabetes.
Keynote: Regain Your Hormonal Health
Dr. Nitu Bajekal will explore the relationship between the six pillars of lifestyle medicine and their impact on reproductive health. The close link between lifestyle factors and period-related issues will be examined, and solutions offered, to educate women on the positive changes they can make in their own lives, as well as that of their families and friends. The difference between a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet and a vegan diet, as well as how beneficial this way of eating is for health conditions, including painful periods and endometriosis, will be discussed.
Dr. Bajekal will show you how to successfully manage your condition using proven lifestyle approaches alongside western medicine. There will be an interactive discussion with myth busting followed by a Q&A.
