March 2023 Cruise Classes:
The Energetic Healing Properties of Foods
“Make your kitchen your true medicine cabinet”
When choosing the food we eat, it is increasingly important to consider the nutritional aspects of ingredients. In the study of macrobiotics, we take this one step further and consider the energetic quality of foods. Harmonizing with the natural environment is an important aspect of the study of macrobiotics, including food selection and cooking.
In this presentation, Sheri will walk you through a system to classify foods effortlessly. Afterwards, she will help you understand what healing properties exist in certain foods and how you can seamlessly prepare dishes from them for simple remedies.
The Spirit of Rice Documentary Film
The first preview of The Spirit of Rice documentary will be on board the Holistic Holiday at Sea 2023 sailing. The documentary follows rice grower, Christian Elwell, over a year through the seven stages of rice, from seed selection to planting, harvesting, and natural processing. Christian, cofounder of South River Miso Company, has been growing paddy and dryland rice for over thirty years in the Northeast, where conventional wisdom said rice could not grow. He has developed a spiritual relationship with the plant, as well as the soil, water, and other elements.
The film also includes interviews with Doctors Neal Barnard and Colin Campbell, along with other environmental experts. Our hope is that the film will inspire children and adults to eat in a healthier direction and grow rice in apartment window boxes, backyard plots, and community gardens, thereby reducing climate change. The documentary is being funded by individual and corporate donations, including Eden Foods.
